Hi, I’m Chris Long with Go Fish Digital, and welcome to another episode of “60-Second SEO”.

Today, I’m going to talk about a great pagination best practice that we’re seeing more and more sites start to utilize, but that’s always linking to the last page of the series.

Here, I’m on REI’s site. I’m on their “Snow Clothing” page. They’re one of the sites with some of the best SEO there is. We go to the bottom of their pagination. We see they do a really good job of it. We’re on the first page here, but they link to the next five sequential pages. Then they have this little ellipses here, and then they link to the last page of the series.

And that’s really powerful because now that allows Googlebot to instantly access this content that’s on page 70 immediately from the first page. Now, when you go down here, Google has much easier access to page 66, 67, right. And also the other content that would normally be deeper within the site architecture.

So always linking to that last page of the series from the first page is a really great idea to open up the crawl and allow Google to more quickly access category pages that would normally be deeper within your site architecture.
